FAQ

Fair questions,
straight answers.

Flint grades honestly, so it should answer honestly too. If your question isn't here, the contact page reaches a human.

The engine

What is Flint?

An idea engine built on bisociation. It collides a resource you'd recognise with a business move you'd never put beside it, reads the business the collision throws, and grades it honestly. There's no blank page and no prompts to engineer — you press Strike, or bring one asset, one pain, or one idea of your own.

What do flicker, tame, and dud mean?

Flicker  Real, untaken edge — a lead worth investigating outside Flint.

Tame  A sound idea whose surprise is spent; the mainstream got there first.

Dud  Whoever feels this pain is already served.

The grade measures surprise and untaken edge — not profit. Plenty of excellent livelihoods are tame businesses; Flint's job is telling you which is which before you commit.

Why did my idea grade tame? Is that a bug?

No — it's the product working. Flint's grader is walled off from the part that writes the reading, so it can't be charmed, and most first strikes land tame. An honest first grade gives you a baseline to hunt from: flip the register, fuse a second resource, apply a business-model move, or re-grade in another market, and the grader re-judges. The field guide covers the hunt moves in order of cost.

Is Flint's output business advice?

No. Flint's readings and verdicts are AI-generated. They are sparks to investigate, not business, legal, or financial advice. A flicker is a lead — your next move is talking to whoever the reading says bleeds.

Can I try Flint before paying?

Yes — the demo on the homepage plays recorded strikes from the real engine, free and without an account. Your own hunts start at a dollar; your account is created with your first purchase.

Credits & pricing

How do credits work?

Credits are prepaid. Each generative action — a strike, a read, a twist, a sharpen — spends credits in proportion to the work it performs, and your remaining balance is always on screen. A typical hunt — strike, verdict, and the moves that evolve it — runs about a dollar. The controls reference lists every press and whether it spends.

Do credits expire?

Credits are valid for 12 months from purchase. Each purchase is tracked as its own batch with its own expiry date, and your account page shows every batch and when it expires.

Is there a subscription?

No. Nothing recurs — you buy credits when you want them, and there is nothing to cancel to stop future charges.

What do credit packs cost?

$1 for 1 credit (first purchase only), $10 for 10, $30 for 33, and $50 for 60. Larger packs are discounted as extra credits, never as reduced prices. This is launch pricing — pack sizes and rates may be tuned as the engine's costs settle. The pricing section always shows the current packs.

Refunds

Can I get a refund?

Yes, for unused credits: request a refund of your unspent balance within 14 days of the purchase that added them. Failed or duplicate charges are refunded in full, and if an action was charged but produced nothing because of a fault on our side, we re-credit or refund it. Credits already spent are not refundable — the computation was performed. The Refund & Cancellation Policy has the full terms and how to make a request.

I didn't like the verdict. Can I get those credits back?

No — and that's deliberate. Flint grades ideas honestly, including telling you when an idea is unremarkable. A verdict you didn't hope for is the service working as intended, not a fault. A dud is the cheapest verdict you'll ever get: a dollar to learn what would otherwise cost you a year.
